In Chicago, Cook County prosecutors have been ordered to drop all cases handled by nine special operations Chicago police officers, four of whom have been charged with robbing, kidnapping and intimidating drug dealers, according to a memo sent to state's attorney's offices.  This makes no sence, especially with the type of crimes each officer committed.

Well Mrs. Clinton is sure using her voice in defense of her husband Former Bill Clinton in attacking the Secretary of State.  For the life of me I can't recall her voice at all during her years as the first lady when her husband "I did not have sex with that woman" was Commander and Chief.  While in office the President and the first lady didn't provide much in the way of explainations except to provide a lot of lip service. Their silence spoke volumes, and their actions were a disgrace.  So now the lovely Senator is trying to serve up a little "Rice" on the American plate and hand it to us in defense of her husband. That's just poor politics.

Way To Go Citgo Drops Supplier Because of Chavez Remarks

Tags:
@ 06:27 AM (21 months, 16 days ago)
In Houston Texas 7-Eleven Inc. has made a bold move in droping Venezuelan-controlled Citgo Petroleum Corp. as its gasoline supplier, the convenience store operator said today, a week after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called President Bush "the devil."

7-Eleven said in a statement it was switching to its own branded gasoline at more than 2,100 company-owned and franchised U.S. stores. Citgo has been 7-Eleven's gasoline supplier for 20 years.

A Citgo spokesman was not immediately available to comment on the 7-Eleven decision.

According to Rueters News--Dallas-based 7-Eleven expressed sympathy for anger at Chavez due to comments made in a United Nations General Assembly speech last week.

"Regardless of politics, we sympathize with many Americans' concerns over derogatory comments about our country and its leadership recently made by Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez," 7-Eleven said in a statement.

But 7-Eleven warned against boycotts of Citgo because of its employment of 4,000 people in the United States and its role as a supplier of motor fuels to 14,000 gasoline stations.

"Americans with no substantive connection to Venezuela would be economically harmed by boycotts," 7-Eleven said.

Because of the on-going war of words between Chavez and the Bush administration, Citgo has been the subject of at least one boycott.

The conservative U.S. religious group American Family Association launched a boycott of Citgo in February.

Rules are definate

Very Pretty Picture--NOT!!  Rules are clearly different for officers who commit crimes across the country. The legal system does not apply the same treatment to officers as it does other offenders.  In this case, just as in others that involve law enforcement, higher bonds need to be in place as well as the removal of all weapons and the surrender of their shield pending the outcome.  And they should be court ordered to wear a monitoring device while out on bond.

An Indiana sheriff's deputy was formally charged with three felony counts following a 14-hour standoff at his home... they went to the home of Jonathan Lambert, 34,  at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday after criminal charges were filed against him... The charges stem from an incident where Lambert is charged with threatening to kill his girlfriend so she would have sex with him. Sheriff's deputy charged with sexual battery, confinement
Fort Wayne News Sentinel, IN
Sep. 26, 2006 BRAZIL, Ind. - A Clay County sheriff's deputy was formally charged with three felony counts following a 14-hour standoff at his home with police officers who had come to arrest him.

A not guilty plea was entered for Jonathan Lambert, 34, during a hearing in Clay Circuit Court on Monday. He faces charges of criminal confinement, intimidation and sexual battery, all felonies that each carry possible sentences of six months to three years in prison.

He was being held Tuesday at the Parke County Jail in Rockville on a $25,000 cash bond.

The charges stem from an incident where Lambert is charged with threatening to kill his girlfriend so she would have sex with him. Lambert also is accused of forcing her to touch him and allegedly choking her, leaving red marks around her neck.

Authorities have yet to disclose the contents of the arrest warrant that had been issued for Lambert before the standoff at his home in the town of Cloverland, and all court documents connected to the case have been sealed.

Lambert's defense attorney, Joseph K. Etling of Terre Haute, said after the hearing that he did not believe Lambert violated the law, but that he would reserve further comment until prosecutors completed their investigation.

Lambert was also charged with domestic battery and criminal recklessness, both misdemeanors.

The standoff began about 10:30 a.m. Friday when state troopers and Clay County Sheriff's Department officials went to Lambert's home about along U.S. 40 about 10 miles east of Terre Haute to arrest him.

The Sheriff's Department had received a 911 call earlier that day about a domestic disturbance, Sheriff Mike Heaton said.

Lambert came out of his home around 2:15 p.m. carrying a long gun and fired a round into the ground before returning inside, state police said. About 20 minutes later, he came out again and fired a round from a handgun.

No shots were fired toward officers and no one was injured. About 12:20 a.m. Saturday, after talking to negotiators, Lambert walked out the back door and was arrested without incident.

Memo To Muslim Americans'- Something Wrong

@ 06:37 AM (21 months, 22 days ago)

Watching nightly reports, programs such as Glenn Beck, O'Reilly Factor, Paula Zahn, reading daily newspapers and magazines and realizing something is missing, from the headlines.  Replaced and sugar coated with what kind of Art Angelina and Brad Pitt bought, or If Tom Cruise had a healthy baby, maybe it's the very last photo's of her son for sale by Ann Nicole Smith just before he died.  My point is do we really care, we must, we pay attention and get sidetracked, instead of paying more attention that we are at war.  Islamofascists have declared war on the United States and stated that they intend to kill all Americans. And they've shown us that they mean business.

Where are all of the Muslims in America?  Who live among us, in our country? Where are their voices?  They are not immune. Doesn't this effect them?  Why isn't the media going into their community and holding town hall discussions and interviewing the Muslim Communities in every state?

Haven't we just passed the anniversary of the worst attack on America in history, 9/11, when Muslim terrorists killed nearly 3,000 innocent men, women and children as they turned passenger planes into missiles. Yet the news is filled with stories of Muslims -- not loudly condemning the Muslim murderers -- but complaining of their treatment here and demanding Americans change their attitudes.

Ecuse me, but, Americans should change our attitudes? Terrorist cells have been discovered here. Plots to blow up bridges and the Sears Tower have been uncovered. Bomb-making supplies carried by Muslim terrorists have been stopped at our borders. A plot to bomb 10 airliners bound for the United States was foiled. And like some troubled youth we are told to change our attitudes?

America has opened its doors and universities to Muslims from foreign countries -- perhaps the best way for these students to see our freedoms and develop a new respect for our country. But where, I ask, is the returned show of support?

Pope Benedict is calling on moderate Muslims to speak out against the violent strain of Islam, calling jihad a movement against the nature of God. But where are the moderate Muslim voices here? Why aren't they speaking up to repudiate the kidnappings, suicide murders and beheadings done by Islamofascists?

For an answer, I went to the Web site of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR. But the CAIR site highlights a workshop on how to "Know Your Rights"; a section on "Political Empowerment"; a demand to put a Muslim holiday on all school calendars.

This past spring, Muslim students at Michigan State University held a protest -- not to decry Islamic terrorists -- but to speak out loudly against Danish cartoons depicting Mohammed as a terrorist. What's worse is this: When a tenured professor, I.S. Wichman, sent an e-mail to a student, the school's Muslim Student Association made the letter public and demanded that the professor be officially reprimanded.

What had Wichman written? He wrote that, more than being offended by the cartoons, he was offended "by beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murderers, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women, the murder of a film director in Holland, and the rioting and looting in France."

He went on to write, "If you do not like the values of the West -- see the First Amendment -- you are free to leave."

It seems that the students believe they have the right to protest cartoons, but professors don't have the right to speak out against murderous atrocities. Something's wrong.

To Michigan State's credit, the professor will not be reprimanded as he was exercising his right to free speech.

We are at war. Our soldiers are following the rules of war -- but their opposition is not.

CIA counterterrorism officers are buying private insurance to cover legal costs in case they are charged with a crime, as is being hinted at by some members of Congress who feel their interrogation techniques might be too "tough."

In Iraq, Americans have been kidnapped, tortured, beheaded, burned, hanged from bridges, dragged through streets. But the CIA's method of questioning a terrorist in a cold room while playing loud music is too "tough"?

We're fighting a war for civilization against an enemy bent on destroying it and creating an Islamic world based on a warped view of what true Islam is -- yet where are the voices of American Muslims condemning this enemy?

Sunday Times Lacks IQ

Tags:
@ 06:07 AM (22 months, 3 days ago)
Is the Newspaper circulation down?  Or perhaps the Sunday Times wanted a different front page spin, minus important news.  Or maybe their goal was to make an appearance on the morning talk shows in an effort to increase flat sales. Their lead story headline:
GEORGE W BUSH has the lowest average IQ of all but one American president since the start of the 20th century, according to the estimates of psychological researchers.

He “is definitely intelligent . . . certainly smart enough to be president of the United States”, says Dean Keith Simonton, a psychologist at the University of California.

But his intellect falls below all other presidents of the past 110 years except Warren Harding, who was in the White House briefly in the 1920s and regarded as a failed president.

The story goes on to say Bush’s estimated IQ is about 20 points below that of his predecessor, Bill Clinton, “a disparity that may have created a contrast effect that made any intellectual weaknesses all the more salient”.  Bill Clinton wins my vote for street smarts, but he hardly has the capacity to support much of an IQ considering all the problems during his administration, not to mention his inability to keep his pants ziped up.

Simonton has drawn up a table of estimated presidential intelligence by amassing data created by other researchers. Writing in the journal Political Psychology he says that estimates of Bush’s IQ range between 111.1 and 138.5, with a mean of 120, “which is about the average for a college graduate in the United States”.

Clinton’s IQ ranged between 135.6 and 159, and Ronald Reagan’s between 118 and 141.9. John Quincy Adams, president from 1825-9, was the cleverest with a range of 165 to 175, well into genius territory.

The data used by Simonton was created by the filtering and analysis of personality descriptions from biographical sources — an academically recognised system known as a “historiometric” study.

Bush may be “much smarter” than the findings imply, says Simonton, but he scores particularly unimpressively for “openness to experience, a cognitive proclivity that encompasses unusual receptiveness to fantasy, aesthetics, actions, ideas and values. In the general population this factor is positively associated with intelligence”.

Bush’s openness score of zero — compared with 82 for Clinton and John F Kennedy, 95 for Abraham Lincoln and 99.1 for Thomas Jefferson — “placed him at the very bottom of US presidents”.

This assessment can only be considered tentative because of lack of available evidence on a sitting president, but it is corroborated by a measure of Bush’s “integrative complexity”. Simonton says: “Low scorers on integrative complexity can only see things from a single perspective — their own.”

Bush’s score, he says, is comparable to “extremist Islamic fundamentalists in the Taliban and Al-Qaeda leadership — with the notable exception of Osama Bin Laden, who is lower still”.

Trevor McCrisken, lecturer in American politics at Warwick University, said: “This is going to give added ammunition to those who dislike Bush, and who particularly dislike his folksiness, and his apparent lack of intellectual vigour. A major part of his public persona, to some extent, I think deliberately, is that he is not an intellectual. But he went to Yale, he has had an exclusive upbringing and he is by no means a dimwit.”
