A video showing School District 228’s Superintendent Rich Mitchell holding a martini glass and joking about sensitive subjects – drugs, alcohol abuse, and killing – has some parents and teachers angry and uncomfortable.
Mitchell, who is on a planned vacation, is now under fire for what he did and what he put on the district’s Web site.
Mitchell interviewed new teachers, taped it, and without their knowledge put the teachers’ real answers and edited in fake questions. We are the ones’ who covered the teachers’ faces.
“Our Board of Education will be handling the investigation,” said assistant superintendent Marianne Glenn.
Glenn said parents, teachers, students, and taxpayers can be assured the district will take appropriate action.
“We do have some parents calling and they have voiced their concerns, primarily they’re calling the building principals,” she said.
“We want to assure you that in this difficult time we continue to make students our number one priority here,” Glenn said.
