Mayor Daley's Goal: The People of Chicago
In Chicago, On Tuesday, February 27, 2007, the mayoral primary takes place. Mayor Daley, if elected will suprpass his own fathers terms in office, which totaled five. This will be the Mayor's sixth election. And with no real competition on the race track he will succeed. And, it will probably be his last term in office. Despite scandals over this and that, Mayor Daley has really accomplished a hell of a lot. He has changed the entire face of Chicago with new businesses, jobs, a thriving theatre district, a place Hollywood stops in to shoot a movie or two. Streets, areas once unsafe, are now safe enough for your grandma to walk down, alone. And housing for those who would otherwise be living on city streets and eating their meals from trash bins. In my opinion, he is only continuing his fathers dream for all who call Chicago, home.
His words recorded in the Chicago papers today, simply,"I feel confident about it. Not overly confident ... .People want us to move forward. They want us all to work together. That's what I want to do," he said.
"When you run for office, you have to tell people what you're going to do. You don't tell people about [the] other candidate. You say what you stand for, what your policies are, what can you do about a lot of issues: education, housing, economic development. How will you work with the business community," the mayor said.
Mayor Daley, is one of the few who I admire in this town, and I for one hope he is able to continue, at, making our city GREAT!
