Memo :To Pittsburgh Police Union President

Tags:
@ 06:42 AM (9 months, 11 days ago)

Dear Mr. Malloy,

It appears you are in denial of a very serious epidemic among officers in this country who abuse the powers of the badge within their own homes.  You sir, need to get yor head out of your behind.  Many Officers wives do not come forward for fear they will be killed.  If you were able to interview wives of those officers within your fraternal order and guarantee their safety, the majority of the spouses would inform you, sir, they fear for their lives.  Yes, fear.

You are assuming that the Officers within your union behave like model citizens.  And perhaps a few do, but for those cowardly cops who terrorize their wives and children, extra measures must be in place to keep them safe from harm.

Why not consider embracing this new policy.  Who knows you might even save a life or two in the process.  And isn't that what the Officers in your Fraternal Order took an oath to do?  I believe it says "We will serve and protect".

Think about that for a moment.  I will await your response.

---------------------

The Pittsburgh police union says a domestic violence policy proposed Tuesday for police employees comes with ridiculous requirements and unfairly holds them to higher standards than other city workers.

"It's just a matter of a sense of fair play," said James Malloy, president of Fraternal Order of Police Fort Pitt Lodge No. 1. "This has just gotten out of control here. We don't have an epidemic of officers abusing their spouses."

"(Domestic violence) is something that is a clear and obvious problem in our community," said City Council President Doug Shields, who proposed the policy at yesterday's council meeting. "To me, domestic violence is the wellspring of a lot of bad things that happen in our society."

Shields said his proposal "is not an indictment of police," but noted that officers nationwide are more likely to be involved with domestic violence in their personal lives than other citizens.
Under the proposed law, all police bureau employees would be required to tell their supervisors immediately if they are under investigation for domestic violence and report co-workers who they believe might be abusive. Employees who do not report it immediately could be fired.

The ordinance gives lengthy definitions of what is considered abuse and reportable actions, including physical or sexual abuse, intimidation, psychological or emotional abuse -- mind games, threats, undermining another's sense of self-worth or name-calling -- and economic abuse, such as total control of finances or forbidding someone to go to school or work.

Supervisors would be required to report "warning signs" of possible domestic violence, such as a high number of physical or verbal altercations, inappropriate treatment of animals, injuries or "excessive phone calling" as a way to monitor and control others.

Malloy said the policy would force police employees to make judgments about co-workers' behaviors and report even routine grumblings about something a spouse did or did not do. An officer who argued with his wife in public about a movie would be required to tell his bosses that he had been investigated if another officer had asked them what was going on, Malloy said.

Shields said the proposed ordinance is modeled after a policy developed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, a 20,000-member nonprofit. While those accused of domestic violence but not convicted would keep their jobs, they likely would not be promoted, he said.

The proposed law stems from a public outcry that followed the June promotions of three police officers with allegations of domestic violence or disturbances in their pasts. None was convicted.

The proposal also would help prevent domestic violence on the force, because it calls for stricter screening during the hiring process and more intervention when warning signs are seen, Shields said.

Malloy said one officer, whom he declined to identify, is under a protection from abuse order filed by a former girlfriend and a judge's order that he cannot have a gun in his house. The officer must leave his gun at the station when he is off-duty, he said.

"All he did was get into a verbal dispute with a past girlfriend. She claims he threatened her," Malloy said. Other officers have been named in protection from abuse orders, but none resulted in criminal charges in the past 12 years, he said. Some of those were filed as part of divorce cases, he said.

Shirl Regan, executive director of the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, praised the policy and said she supports all the provisions.

"It's just a beginning," she said.

Was the judge too soft in the case of a mother and father who allowed underage alcohol in their home that resulted in the death of two teens?  I think the answer is, YES!  If this were a drinking establishment the owners would have faced serious jail time for over serving patrons.

Hell Explained By A Chemistry Student

@ 04:57 AM (9 months, 14 days ago)

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, and via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well:

Bonus Question:  Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.
One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time.  So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving.  I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave.  Therefore, no souls are leaving.  As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.
Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.  Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.  With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.  Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.
This gives two possibilities:
1.  If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
2.  If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over.  The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct....leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a Divine Being, which explains why last night, Teresa kept shouting, "Oh My God".

This student received an A+.

Disturbing Twist Further Complicates Murder of "Amy Duh"

Tags:
@ 03:48 PM (9 months, 18 days ago)
Another news story appeared on the tragic death of Amy Duh, killed by her officer husband. Only this time with an even more, disturbing twist.  His girlfriend spoke publicly,  alleging  that Derrek Duh often talked about killing his wife in the girlfriends presence.  She also has a five year old child.  She indicates she told others of his threats.  In looking at this story I am confused.   When you know someone is violent, controlling and on medication for depression, why even involve yourself in that type of relationship.    In addition, she included her own flesh and blood in the mix, placing an innocent child , her own, in jeopardy.  There are many lessons for women across the country in this tragic triangle.    The first, and to me most obvious, when someone has a history of violence of any kind, do not get involved.   When the person you become involved with talks about the "perfect murder" or wanting revenge on someone they were in a relationship with, leave immediately.  And make sure the proper authorities are notified and a report or record is made as to your information.  If you must, go to the local state's attorney's office or contact the attorney general in your area.   Always take time to know the person you are dating. That also means not jumping into bed with them so quickly, and absolutely do not move in with them.   Ask questions about their prior relationships including their family life growing up.    Go to the courthouse in your area and see for yourself prior divorce records or information regarding orders of protection filed against that individual.    Find out about medications that individual may be taking while you are dating.  This is a serious red flag.  Especially for deepression and they take themselves off without a trained professionals guidence.   Remember, you cannot fix someone or make them better.    The girfriend is very lucky she and her child were not harmed.    If you are involved in a violent relationship or you know someome who is, please contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE for services and information available in your area.   Girlfriend says cop talked about plan to kill wife

Yet another man, murdered his own family.  It is important when you know someone who is married to a person who is dangerous to discuss a safety plan of action with them, it could save their life.  Although violence in the home is still a deep secret, perhaps you could begin thinking of ways to open the lines of communication where you live.  Maybe your local church, school community center, etc., invite organizations to post information or just come out and talk at a gathering.

Another Clinton Mystery For the Airwaves

@ 01:29 AM (10 months, 2 days ago)
According to Worldnetdaily.com, a mysterious burglar came into the home of former Clinton "man handled" Kathleen Willey and stole her manuscript.  I would hope she had a back-up someplace prehaps with an agent, lawyer or friend.  It makes sence that Hillary has a lot to gain by seeing books such as this do not get published.  But, over the months to come, I believe a lot of unexpected dirt will resurface on the "Clinton Chronicles".  Who knows maybe Monica will return once again, at least I am hoping someone does and knocks the Clintons out of the race.   But, you can bet, the newies will be having a field day with this one.

Kathleen Willey on "60 Minutes" in 1997
Kathleen Willey, the woman who says Bill Clinton groped her in the Oval Office, claims she was the target of an unusual house burglary over the weekend that nabbed a manuscript for her upcoming book, which promises explosive revelations that could damage Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

Willey told WND little else was taken from her rural Virginia home as she slept alone upstairs – electronics and jewelry were left behind – and she believes the Clintons were behind it.

The break-in, she said, reminded her of the widely reported incident 10 years ago in which she claimed she was threatened near the same Richmond-area home by a stranger just two days before she was to testify against President Clinton in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case.

The theft of the manuscript early Saturday morning was suspicious, she told WND, coming only days after the first mainstream media mention of her upcoming book, which is expected to include accusations of campaign finance violations and new revelations about harassment and threats by the Clintons and their associates.

"Here we go again; it's the same thing that happened before," Willey told WND. "They want you to know they were there. And they got what they wanted. They pretty much managed to terrorize me again. It scared me to death. It's an awful feeling to know you're sound asleep upstairs and someone is downstairs."

The book, "Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton" by World Ahead Publishing, WND Books' partner, is due for release in November. Willey said the stolen manuscript was not the book's final copy.

Among its revelations is Willey's identification of the person who threatened her just prior to her testimony against President Clinton – a man who turned out to be linked to the Clintons.

Willey believes the break-in and theft were prompted by teasers of the book's contents published last week in U.S. News and World Report's "Washington Whispers" column and the New York Daily News.

Willey said she is writing the book because of persistent misunderstanding about what happened 10 years ago.

"There is so much misinformation out there, and I had been so badly maligned in the press," she said. "I had the opportunity to set the record straight.

"And frankly," she added, "Hillary Clinton is running for president, and it's a story a lot of people should hear."

Willey points out her story was deemed credible by the FBI, Independent Counsel Ken Starr and CBS "60 Minutes" producers who allowed her to recount it in front of 29 million viewers.

Longtime Clinton lawyer David Kendall was not available for immediate response to Willey's new claims, and Sen. Clinton's presidential campaign has not responded.

Anne Reynolds, crime analyst for the Powhatan County Sheriff's Department, told WND she could only confirm, due to department restrictions, that there was a break-in and entry reported Saturday in the vicinity of Willey's address and that an officer responded and turned the case over to the criminal investigations department. Mayor on Mission For Killer

Tags:
@ 04:58 PM (10 months, 3 days ago)

The Mayor of Chicago is on an important mission, to catch and bring back a murderer. While Planing a trip to Paris, he intends to lobby French officials to extradite Hans Peterson, the man suspected of killing downtown dermatologist David Cornbleet.

Daley disclosed plans to flex his diplomatic muscle -- during upcoming meetings with the mayor of Paris, Chicago's sister city -- after the City Council approved a resolution demanding that France reverse its stand and extradite Peterson.

Peterson, who was born in the United States but holds dual citizenship because his mother was born in France, turned himself in to authorities on the French-controlled island of St. Martin last month and allegedly confessed to killing Cornbleet. Peterson allegedly said he killed Cornbleet because the doctor prescribed him acne medicine in 2002 that made him impotent.
