An arrest has been made in the case of Theresa Parker, a missing 911 dispatcher from Walker County.

Walker county Sheriff Steve Wilson announced this morning that Parker's husband, Samuel L. Parker, has been charged with murder. He was arrested just before 10 a.m. at his residence.

Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell said Parker was booked into the Floyd County Jail about 1 p.m. today.

"We're housing him at the request of Sheriff Wilson," Caldwell said.

Theresa Parker has been missing since March 2007. Capt. Mike Freeman of the Walker County Sheriff’s Department said her body has not been found.

Theresa Parker's mother, Clarie Careathers, said she heard about the arrest from her children.

"It was a great day for my family, but sad for his (Sam Parker’s)," she said. "I hope he will tell us where she so we can bring her home so we can have closure. I know she's out there somewhere and now it’s up to us to bring her home. We have to find her, that’s all there is to it.”

Sam Parker was a sergeant with the LaFayette Police Department when his wife went missing on March 21, 2007. He was later fired from that job after officials found explosives in his police locker.

The Parkers were in the midst of divorce proceedings when she disappeared. Sam Parker has maintained that his wife left voluntarily.

A press conference will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Walker County Commissioner's conference room in LaFayette.

Check back later for more information, and check our Web site after the press conference this afternoon for video coverage.
