A Vanderburgh County Indiana Sheriff Deputy was arrested because he is alleged to have stalked and invaded the privacy of his former wife, apparently angry over the fact that she is dating and moving on with her life.  It is good that of late, at least this police department has decided to take the matter seriously.  They are to be commended.

Court to hear former city police chief's lawsuit

The state's highest court agreed this week to hear the lawsuit filed by a former Baltimore police commissioner who claimed that he was wrongfully terminated by the mayor nearly two years ago.

The lawsuit was filed by Kevin P. Clark, a top police commander in New York City who was recruited to run Baltimore's Police Department in 2003.

A city Circuit Court judge ruled in favor of the city's right to terminate Clark based on terms in his contract.

But a Court of Special Appeals judge in June reinstated the lawsuit, saying the earlier judge erred in ruling that the termination provision in Clark's contract was "valid and enforceable."

The city petitioned the Court of Appeals to review the lawsuit.

Mayor Martin O'Malley removed Clark from office after saying that allegations of domestic abuse had eroded his ability to lead the department.

Neil M. Janey Sr., Clark's attorney, said the former commissioner wants his job back, as well as back pay and compensatory damages for "the embarrassment and humiliation for the manner he was removed from office."

He said oral arguments are expected to take place early next year. Ralph S. Tyler, Baltimore's city solicitor, said he believed the city would prevail in the case.

"We have always believed, and continue to believe, when Kevin Clark entered into this contract, he agreed to this term," Tyler said. "The term is valid, and we're optimistic that that will be the ultimate determination in the case."

Sending Prayers to Abraham

It's on the front page of the USA Today and on AOL news about a young man refusing to go through a second round of chemo for Hodkins disease. Now a social service agency has asked a court to intervene and make the 16 year go back into treatment.  He's old enough to get a driver's permit, but thats about all he can do until he reaches 18.  Is he old enough to decide what method of treatment to take?  What about the quality of his life right now?  And his parents are in support of the choice's he is making.  Is that wrong?  We don't know all the facts and we should not judge anyone in this delicate situation.

The family as a team has decided to use alternative treatment methods not sanctioned by traditional medicine. And the parents have been charged with medical neglect.  I am only guessing that they are also a faith based family with stongs ties to God. Regardless that have made a personal choice.  The family feels another round at a higher dosage of drugs will kill their son.  So my question is, do the courts have the right to step in when a family has made what they believe in their hearts is the right decision?   When is it okay for a court of law to make health decisions on our behalf?  This surely will be one for the legal books.  Whatever the outcome I will put Abraham and his family in my daily prayers.  The final decision on Abraham's in God's hands.

Judge Richard Paulmbo Needs to Be Removed from The Legal System

I'm perplexed in October one of my very first posts was about a woman by the name of Yvette Cade who sought an order of protection in a Maryland court from Judge Richard Palumbo. And I asked all blogers to send an outrage email to the various media folks. The Judge basically mocked her and refused to grant a continued order of protection.  A couple weeks later her husband set Yvette on fire.   A surveillance camera at a T-Mobile store captured the most terrifying moment in Yvette Cade's life. It was the moment her estranged husband, Roger Hargrave, tried to kill her.
