Drew Peterson & Philip Murphy: Till Death do Them Part?

Tags:

[Difernt+Band.gif]

An abuser never changes their tune.  In the case of Drew Peterson, clearly his actions behind closed doors is that of a very clever, abusive, controlling, manipulative individual who just happened by accident, to be a cop. This case should not imply that police officers are abusive.  Quite the opposite.  The ones that abuse their families place a heavy burden and stigma on those who so bravely protect our streets 24/7.

Should authorities consider calling in the FBI on the disappearance of Stacy Peterson? Absolutely!   They need to pull in the 25 year and over law enforcement veterans to assist in this case.  Perhaps even a profiler.  The person who cracks this case must be of the same mind set as Drew Peterson, meaning a guy who knows how to out think the criminals.

In my opinion, I don't believe he set out to harm her.  Meaning it was not pre-meditated. I believe he loved her very much.  It was likely they got into a heated battle and things spun out of control. He followed and taped her every move.   When Drew Peterson said she left and she is where she wants to be there is clearly a message in his words.  We know she hasn't used her cell phone and if it is ever located you can bet it will have already been disarmed.   She has not used a credit card. She supposedly took twenty-five thousand dollars in cash. Hardly likely. Her car was found at the airport which is within 5-8 minutes walking distance from the Peterson residence.

No one has really been able to pin point with much accuracy, any type of a time line, except for the one-sided  dribbled mechanicaly produced story by Drew Peterson.

Not once has Peterson made an attempt to look or sincerely ask publicly that she return home.  Why? Because she can not.  He has labled the tragedies as "incidents".  A pill box way of text book response when one is attached to the event or crimes .

He has already made arrangements with family members regarding the kids.  His plan is in place no matter what the outcome.  And doesn't anyone find it odd, that his words and actions have never once included that of Stacy Peterson.

As the daughter of  former police detective, Philip Murphy, I feel as though my father has been resurected into the body of Drew Peterson. In comparing objectively, the two men, watching as a spectator with the rest of the world,  they are in my opinion, identical.  With one exception, that my mother was found and properly laid to rest, Stacy Peterson is still out there somewhere and we must find her!

Cops and Domestic Violence

An article today appeared in the Chattanooga Times & Free Press regarding officers and domestic violence incidents among the rank and file.  Officers often bring the streets into their own homes.  I have said this before, until officers who commit acts of violence in their own homes are treated like everyone else, it will continue behind closed doors.  The blue brotherhood is alive abd well among police departments across the country.   Stress on the job is a poor excuse for anyone law enforcement or not, to terrorize their own flesh and blood. http://www.blogstream.com/gallery.mod?G=strangephraseindeed&RT=strangephraseindeed&PRID=18462&IID=24079&IMG=24079_18462.gif

After 6 Months, N.J. Officer Charged With Wife's Murder

Tags:
@ 04:57 AM (36 months, 16 days ago)

police officer, was finally charged Tuesday with murdering his wife with his police-issued handgun and trying to cover it up.

It took authorities more than six months to decide whether to charge Millville Police Sgt. Robert Vanaman, who authorities said claimed he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot his wife on May 11. Barbara Vanaman, 37, died of two gunshot wounds to the chest.

Cumberland County Prosecutor Ronald Casella said the case was tricky in part because there were no witnesses.

Robert Vanaman, 37, spent four days in a hospital for treatment of stab wounds and slashes to his torso and arms, said his lawyer, Joseph O'Neill.

Vanaman, a 15-year veteran of the police force in the city 40 miles west of Atlantic City, was suspended after the shooting. The charges he faces include murder, hindering an investigation and suppression of evidence.

Since the slaying, he had been on leave from his police job and was raising his 14- and 5-year-old sons.

Neither boy was home when their mother was shot. But the younger one did see his father led away in handcuffs Tuesday, O'Neill said.

A judge set bail Tuesday at $750,000. Vanaman was to appear in court Wednesday.

Christian Teen Murdered shouting "I Want Jesus"

Tags:
@ 04:24 AM (37 months, 6 days ago)

JERSEYVILLE, Ill.--- A teenager carrying a Bible and shouting "I want Jesus" was shot twice with a police stun gun and later died at a St. Louis hospital, authorities said. Is this a misuse of a weapon, that we, as the general public have been told by authorities is not lethal? The full account of the incident will never really come into the Public's view. The mere fact that he was murdered is cause enough for Christian's around the world to rally and advocate on behalf of an innocent young man taken before his time and the circumstances for which he lost his life.

In a statement obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, police in Jerseyville, about 40 miles north of St. Louis, said 17-year-old Roger Holyfield would not acknowledge officers who approached him and he continued yelling, "I want Jesus."

Police tried to calm the teen, but Holyfield became combative, according to the statement. Officers fired the stun gun at him after he ignored their warnings, then fired again when he continued struggling, police said.

Holyfield was flown to St. Louis' Cardinal Glennon Hospital after the confrontation Saturday; he died there Sunday, police said.

An autopsy was planned for Tuesday.

The statement expressed sympathy to Holyfield's family but said city and police officials would not discuss the matter further.

Calls Tuesday to Jerseyville Police Chief Brad Blackorby were not immediately returned. The department has been using stun guns for about five months, according to the statement.

In a report released in March, international human rights group Amnesty International said it had logged at least 156 deaths across the country in the previous five years related to police stun guns.

The rise in deaths accompanies a marked increase in the number of U.S. law enforcement agencies employing devices made by Taser International Inc. (TASR) of Scottsdale, Ariz. About 1,000 of the nation's 18,000 police agencies used Tasers in 2001; more than 7,000 departments had them last year, according to a government study.

Police had used Tasers more than 70,000 times as of last year, Congress' Government Accountability Office said.

Amnesty International has urged police departments to suspend the use of Tasers pending more study. Taser International said the group's count was flawed and falsely linked deaths to Taser use when there has been no such official conclusion.

The city of St. Louis also drew unwanted attention for crime this week when it was named the most dangerous U.S. city by Morgan Quitno Press. The ranking looked only at crime within St. Louis city limits, not its metro area.

Cowardly Cop Gets Off Easy

Tags:

Cowardly Cop, Scott Curtis Trautner forced his young, 14 year old helpless victim into having sex with him.  This former State trooper could have also reduced the emotional trauma for the victim and her family had he done the right thing by admitting his guilt and face the consequences of his ugly behavior.  Instead, he thrust the victim into playing the events of that horrible night on the witness stand describing to a jury how she was forced into having sex with him.
The judge sentenced Scott Curtis Trautner, 41, of Woodbury, must serve 30 years of probation, perform 3,000 hours of community service, pay almost $8,000 in fines and restitution and register as a sex offender. But State sentencing guidelines call for a minimum of 12 years in prision.  But because of the trooper's "special situation" the judge took that into account.   If Trautner violates probation, Washington County District Judge Thomas Armstrong ruled, he must serve 12 years in prison.

Police Officer Murders His Wife-Remains on Job Until he is Charged?

Well, I really thought I'd seen everything, until now.   New Jersey Police sergeant Robert Vanaman on May 11, 2006, allegedly in self defense shoots and kills his wife. He was a trained police officer that would make a big difference you would think, when a person is defending themselves. This is most interesting the sergeant doesn't have to talk to anyone under the advice of his lawyer.  He hasn't been charged as of yet because the case is still under investigation.  He is currently on sick leave taking full pay.  Once his "wounds" heal he can return to active duty. And then we can all throw a welcome back party upon his return.  Yippee...PLEASE SPARE ME THE GARBAGE .  He'll have plenty of time now no matter what the outcome to get his story straight.  I have been involved with too many officer related cases to know and smell something rotten ........... According to ---
the Chief..."Rob has been a good city employee, and this situation really hurts," Police Chief Ronald J. Harvey said during a visit to the Vanaman house Friday afternoon. "Words cannot really describe how traumatic this whole experience has been."...

The Officer is under no restrictions, he is free to go and travel and do as he wishes.  The sad reality of this tragic situation is there was domestic violence in their home and Officer Vanaman has an angry violent temper according to phones calls I received last week on this case.  And Barbara was very fearful of her Police Officer Husband.

EXCERPTS FROM ARTICLE BELOW:

...HE AGREED TO HAND OVER HAIR AND BLOOD SAMPLES, COPIES OF HIS MEDICAL RECORDS, AND ANYTHING ELSE THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE MIGHT NEED.  THE ONLY THING HE WON'T GIVE IS AN ACCOUNT OF WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK. "HE WANTS TO TELL THE PROSECUTOR AND THE POLICE WHAT HAPPENED, BUT HE'S NOT BECAUSE I ADVISED HIM NOT TO," O'NEILL SAID. "PEOPLE WHO ARE EMOTIONALLY DISTRAUGHT COULD SAY THINGS THAT COULD BE TAKEN DIFFERENTLY THAN THEY WOULD IF THEY HAD THEIR WITS ABOUT THEM...

...HIS LAWYER CLAIMED THE POLICE SERGEANT HAS NOT RETURNED TO HIS WEDGEWOOD COURT HOME, WHERE LESS THAN A WEEK AGO HIS WIFE WAS SHOT AND HE WAS STABBED "MANY TIMES IN THE CHEST, STOMACH, ARMS, FINGERS AND HANDS."  THE VICTIM WAS SHOT IN SELF-DEFENSE, ACCORDING TO O'NEILL...

...VANAMAN CAN RETURN TO WORK ONCE HIS STAB WOUNDS ARE HEALED AND HE'S EMOTIONALLY READY, O'NEILL STATED... BUT EVEN WHEN VANAMAN IS HEALED PHYSICALLY, THE REALITY IS IT MIGHT BE SOME TIME UNTIL HE'S READY TO GO BACK TO WORK, ACCORDING TO O'NEILL. HIS EMOTIONAL WOUNDS MAY TAKE LONGER TO HEAL THAN HIS PHYSICAL ONES, O'NEILL EXPLAINED. "(ROBERT'S) VERY, VERY UPSET," HE SAID. "HE'S SO UPSET THAT IT'S REALLY HARD TO GET HIM TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED."

Barbara Vanaman mourned
Wednesday, May 17, 2006
By MATT DUNN

MILLVILLE -- Family members, friends and acquaintances of Barbara Vanaman gathered Tuesday night at Christy Funeral Home to pay respect to a person many described as a devoted mother and wonder woman.

She was shot to death during a domestic dispute at her home last Thursday.

Cars lined Broad Street as those who knew Barbara Vanaman, 37, embraced and comforted each other.

Her funeral will be held today at St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church at Buck and Depot streets.

Karin Shaffer, Barbara's mother, is asking anyone with stories or thoughts about her daughter to write them down and send these letters of remembrance to the Shaffer's home at 12 N. 14th St., Millville, N.J. 08332.

The family is hoping to save these letters, so they can be read by her children and relatives.

Robert Vanaman still is not speaking to detectives on the advice of his lawyer, Joseph O'Neill, of Vineland, in the wake of the fatal dispute that claimed his wife's life.

The only thing he won't give is an account of what happened last week.

"He wants to tell the prosecutor and the police what happened, but he's not because I advised him not to," O'Neill said. "People who are emotionally distraught could say things that could be taken differently than they would if they had their wits about them.

"I never let anyone talk, even if they're 100 percent innocent," he added.

O'Neill said if Vanaman is charged and his case goes to trial, only then will he tell his side of the story.

In the meantime, the police sergeant is under no obligation to speak to anyone.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

However, charges have not been filed against the 37-year-old Wedgewood Court resident and veteran Millville Police Department sergeant.

Casella said on Monday that the investigation being conducted by the prosecutor's office has a long way to go.

Vanaman can return to work once his stab wounds are healed and he's emotionally ready, O'Neill stated.

The 15-year veteran of the Millville Police Department is currently on sick leave, Police Chief Ron Harvey confirmed on Monday.

His responsibilities at his job include overseeing the computers and technological components of the station and supervision the dispatchers and records division.

But even when Vanaman is healed physically, the reality is it might be some time until he's ready to go back to work, according to O'Neill.

His emotional wounds may take longer to heal than his physical ones, O'Neill explained.
