Merry Christmas: Is A Wish For Happiness-Not A Political Potato

According to Dr, Paul Irwin at the American Bible Institute, as we read stories of controversy regarding displays of Nativity scenes and Christmas trees such as the controversy over the airing of the trailer for "Nativity" at the Christkindlmarket in Chicago. As one who has studied the Bible for many years, I find this debate troubling. The American Bible Society believes that we must celebrate the rights of Americans to hold diverse opinions and not to stifle them.

The Funding of Hot Air from a Dying Woman

We all receive these letters from other countries.  But, I thought this one was rather original...My name is Mrs .Maria Johnson.I am a dying woman who had decided to donate what
I have to you. I am 59 years old and was diagnosed for cancer about 2 years
ago, immediately after the death of my husband, who had left me everything he
worked for. I have been touched by God to donate from what I have inherited from
my late husband to the you for the good work of God, rather than allow my
relatives to use my husband's hard earned funds ungodly.I  have asked God to
forgive me all my sins and i believe he has because He is a merciful God.

God Hates Blogs and we are All Going to Hell

According to a blog...Bloggers are going to hell one entry at a time, according to Kevin D. Denee of the Restored Church of God's Ambassador Youth magazine:

Should teenagers and others in the Church express themselves to the world through blogs? Because of the obvious dangers; the clear biblical principles that apply; the fact that it gives one a voice; that it is almost always idle words; that teens often do not think before they do; that it is acting out of boredom; and it is filled with appearances of evil -- blogging is simply not to be done in the Church. It should be clear that it is unnecessary and in fact dangerous on many levels.

Let me emphasize that no one—including adults -- should have a blog or personal website (unless it is for legitimate business purposes).

Amish Mourn and Forgive Gunman

As I read the story about those in the Amish community it made me stop and think about how much anger and hate we all walk around with in our lives.  I realize if this were my child I would be out of mind with grief and could never even think of forgiving such a person.  We only have once chance in this lifetime, although sometimes I wish we could have a dress rehearsal, first.  Walking around being angry serves no purpose.  And the Amish community believe that God has a great plan for them.  The Amish don't hear the same voices of self destruction many of us do at difficult times in our lives.  They know they have God's love and their actions have spoken volumes to a country whose people have turned to the click of a remote control or the delete button on the computer board or the newest technology of the day, in order to make their lives, better.

But, what better example is there to learn from a God loving community who not only practice what they preach, but live it, each and every day.

There's Alcoholic in the Family-Steps You Can Take

Everything about Helen's home looked orderly, even down to the showy bed of azaleas that bloomed annually, as if on cue, in the front yard.

Three freshly scrubbed children emerged every morning for the school bus, about the same time Helen left for her clerical job. On Sundays, Helen's brood took their places at the neighborhood church, where she faithfully attended her Sunday school class.

Sending Prayers to Abraham

It's on the front page of the USA Today and on AOL news about a young man refusing to go through a second round of chemo for Hodkins disease. Now a social service agency has asked a court to intervene and make the 16 year go back into treatment.  He's old enough to get a driver's permit, but thats about all he can do until he reaches 18.  Is he old enough to decide what method of treatment to take?  What about the quality of his life right now?  And his parents are in support of the choice's he is making.  Is that wrong?  We don't know all the facts and we should not judge anyone in this delicate situation.

The family as a team has decided to use alternative treatment methods not sanctioned by traditional medicine. And the parents have been charged with medical neglect.  I am only guessing that they are also a faith based family with stongs ties to God. Regardless that have made a personal choice.  The family feels another round at a higher dosage of drugs will kill their son.  So my question is, do the courts have the right to step in when a family has made what they believe in their hearts is the right decision?   When is it okay for a court of law to make health decisions on our behalf?  This surely will be one for the legal books.  Whatever the outcome I will put Abraham and his family in my daily prayers.  The final decision on Abraham's in God's hands.
